Blessed Spring Equinox - Time of Rebirth and Renewal!

Crosspost from wordpress:
It’s that glorious time of year, one day
until Ostara, the Spring Equinox. I love this time of year, as the light grows
more abundant, springing forth new life, rebirth, and renewal; a nice
refreshment after Winter’s season of death. As we enter into Spring, it is time
for us to look into our lives and see where we too can experience new life,
rebirth, and renewal. What new goals can we set for progression, to better care
for ourselves, our Planet, and our loved ones? What projects have we put off or
could use a rebirth and renewal of their own? Take a good look at your life, see
what changes could be made for the better. Most humans don’t like change, and
are even quite resistant to it, but without change, we have no growth, progress,
or evolution. Like it or not, change is one of the few true constants in our
lives here on Mother Earth. I am so blessed in that I’ve always embraced change.
When we become more accepting of it, our transitions progress a lot more
smoothly. When we resist change, our transitions can be abrupt, as the change
has to be forced upon us in ways in which we have no choice but to
change.
Another aspect of this time of year is Spring cleaning. It’s time
to open the doors and windows to allow fresh air to flow, after the stale air
has built up from shutting out the cold. As well, it’s time to dust those
cobwebs and clean the small crevices that hardly see the light of day, on top of
going through the drawers, closets, cupboards, attics, basements and discarding
things that are no longer useful. Take an honesty inventory and truly discard
that which is no longer necessary. If you have multiples of items, such as a lot
of blankets, sheets, clothes and such, think about donating them to those who
can use them the most. It’s far better that these items are put to good use,
rather than them sitting around collecting dust! We also should be sure to
cleanse our environment of any negative energies, which can be accomplished
through the use of smudge sticks, certain purifying incense, holy water, and a
myriad of other methods.
Speaking of cleaning, I must introduce you to
the ‘green clean team’, which I promise to do this week. This way, when doing
this major Spring cleaning, you can make informed decisions and do so by
eliminating as many chemicals as possible. Most chemicals that are used today
were introduced back in the Great Depression for material gain and truly are not
needed. Most people have been duped and brainwashed through the mass media mass
control devices. Instead of having the cabinet beneath your sink overflowing
with thirty different items for cleaning, only a few key ingredients are needed,
which will go far in not only saving our beautiful Mother Earth and Her
inhabitants, but your wallet as well! In this day and age, the aforementioned
are keys to progress for ALL!
In addition to cleaning our homes, we also
need to clean ourselves. No, I’m not talking about bathing, as I sure hope that
you do so often. Like motivation, bathing doesn’t last long, so it is highly
recommended daily. Some of us, who live for purity, bathe two and three times
per day! The type of cleaning I speak of here has to do with our physical bodies
in the sense of releasing any toxins that may have accumulated through the foods
and beverages ingested, among other factors (cigarettes, et al), as well as the
subtle bodies, where toxins may accumulate in the form of negative energies. The
latter can have quite a profound effect on not only the spiritual and emotional
well-being, but as well the physical well-being.
The physical body can
release toxins through fasting, exercising, and the use of certain herbal
diuretics. One day per week fasting on water, fresh fruits, and veggies, can
take one a long way in maintaining their physical well-being. Done regularly,
one will notice they feel revived, rejuvenated, have more energy, and suffer
less ailments. As well, a healthy exercise regime practiced regularly (at least
thirty minutes 3-5 times per week) aids the body in releasing toxins. This can
be something simple as yoga, walking, or jogging, to something more rigorous,
such as running, playing sports, or aerobics. Especially when we can practice
these activities outdoors on the days of nice weather, they particularly clear
the mind and soothe the soul. Walking/jogging helps, because it forces us to
breathe from the diaphragm. With such a hectic life that many have these days,
they rarely breathe deeply, which is imperative for clearer thinking. When we
breathe deeply, more oxygen reaches the brain, as well we receive the wonderful
purifying energy from our primordial Life Force. Taking a nice long walk in the
woods helps us to breathe in the fresh air from the trees, as well as resonate
with their positive energy. Being in nature brings us closer to Spirit and goes
a long way in keeping a happy spirit at that!
I may be biased here, but I
also highly recommend yoga asanas (positions), because I know how well they help
not only the body, but the mind and spirit as well. Also, in practicing yoga
asanas, we never push ourselves too hard, risking injury to joints and muscles
(aerobic exercises are high risk of injury). With yoga, one must take it slowly,
focusing on deep breathing throughout. If there is an asana we cannot yet
perform, there are always alternates that are easier to do, until the body
becomes more flexible to accommodate the more complex ones. Yoga means ‘union’,
which signifies union of the body, mind, and spirit, as well as our union with
The Divine.
In order to release toxins from the subtle bodies, we must
let go of any resentments and replace them with forgiveness. When we hold onto
emotional pain, we are not punishing the person who hurt us, we are punishing
ourselves. These things can and do manifest into physical illness. As we release
and let go of emotional pain, we may find hidden issues come to surface of which
we were not even aware. Our Spirit allows us to work on these issues as we are
ready, so when working through the layers and clearing out the ‘debris’, we can
find the hidden layers and reveal things about ourselves that we may not have
ever imagined still remain stuck in our psyche. The best manner in which to
release this debris, or toxins in the subtle bodies, is through regular quiet
meditation. When we quiet the mind, focusing on deep breathing, we come to some
very profound realizations which lead us to amazing growth. Regular practice of
quiet meditation has been proven a very effective stress-management technique;
combined with yoga asanas, one can achieve and maintain a very healthy mindset
and physical well-being.
When we take time to do regular thorough
cleaning of our environment, bodies, and minds, things in life start flowing
more smoothly and we open our connections with Spirit. That which exists
without, also exists within, so if one’s home is quite cluttered, you better
believe their mind and Spirit are too! In such cases, it’s best to use baby
steps, break it down into smaller pieces and go through bit by bit and until the
job is done. The more often we do it, the easier it becomes and the less time it
takes. It’s better not to let things build up, rather clean as we go along,
doing a good thorough cleanse based on the eight Holy days of solstices and
equinoxes annually. Out with the old and in with the new is not just a trite
aphorism, it’s valuable insight that can take us far through many aspects in
life. When we have a clean environment, the air feels lighter and fresher, and
we draw less negative events into our lives, which also goes for the Spirit. How
well would your home stand up to a white glove test? Now realize those results
reflect what’s true of your body, mind, and Spirit too! Put on those gloves,
roll up your sleeves and get to cleaning! Believe you me, you will be grateful
you did! It may be hard work, but nothing good ever comes easy. Once all is
done, you can sit back and relax, enjoying your fresh clean
atmosphere!
Bright Blessings!
