UFO Sighting?

I originally posted this in the UFO and Disclosure group, but was encouraged to start a blog or discussion so here it is!
I had a possible sighting this past Sunday. I took my dog out for a walk and while he was doing his thing I looked up and saw what I thought at first was a star or planet that was visible during the day (it was about 9:30 in the morning and very sunny). I looked at it for about half a minute and it did not move. Then movement in my left peripheral caught my attention. I looked over and saw a white cigar shape moving VERY SLOWLY across the sky. I live fairly close to an airport and see planes all the time. At that altitude, a plane would be going much faster, and would generally have blinking lights. So I'm pretty darn certain it's not a plane and decide to keep watching. Since this is odd and so is seeing a star during the day, I look back over and see the "star" has disappeared!
I go back to watching the white object as it slowly treks across the sky. After several minutes (I don't know how long because I didn't have a watch on me) it stops moving completely and stays still for about a minute. It hasn't gone very far in this time unless it's really high up and huge. Then it starts to rotate so that it goes from looking like a white cigar to looking like a large star and back again. When it stops rotating it looks like a large star. Then it starts to go STRAIGHT UP. Then it stops again, and when it does, it is in (as far as I can tell) the same place the "star" was when I first came outside, and now appears to be the same size as well. It stays there for several minutes and my dog is getting impatient with me standing still so long. So I start walking back to my apartment. I walk about 20 ft and then look back to check and see if the object is still there and it's gone.
